Commissioner Shepelle Watkins-White conceived a three-part series of informative sessions to assist young people in overcoming obstacles and defining their futures.  Sessions were held on March 17th, March 28th and April 14th and were attended by 18 youth from our public housing communities.  Commissioner Watkins-White also sponsored a YMCA Summer Camp scholarship for the winner of an essay contest, “What You Can Do to Help Balance the Scales for Equality”.  The series was a tremendous success

2007 Empowerment Conference

The sixth annual Empowerment Conference was hosted by the Resident Services Department on April 18, 2007 at the Chesapeake Conference Center.  Twenty-seven exhibitors were on hand to empower the 190 persons assisted by our Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher programs.
