COMMUNITY HOUSING AND DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS (CHDO)
Chesapeake Redevelopment and Housing Authority (CRHA) works with CHDO’s that have been certified and selected to develop, own or sponsor decent, safe, sanitary and affordable housing.
The City of Chesapeake, in order to meet the requirements of the HOME program, must set-aside 15 percent of its HOME allocation for CHDO’s. The CHDO set-aside funds may be offered as a grant or a loan and are made available through a competitive process. CRHA works with CHDO’s to acquire, and rehabilitate new construction of properties to be sold to first-time homebuyer.
CRHA is currently working with Chesapeake HOME Inc., (CHI), and Housing Hampton Roads, Inc. (Habitat) that have CHDO status.
